It's remarkable the Andrews Block avoided the wrecking
ball as long as it did. Saying it survived "largely by accident" in a rapidly
changing part of town, the authors of
Architecture Worth Saving cited it as "an example of the charm possessed by
business streets in the post-Civil-War years."
It has since been torn down to make way for a parking lot.
