This grand hotel, six stories tall and covering a full city block, was designed by Archimedes Russell. It opened in 1892.  The hotel was once a favorite watering hole for local politicians and was reputed to have the longest bar in the county.

The Yates was torn down in 1971 in the hopes that something better would be built in its place.  The site remains a parking lot to this day.
